What do the numbers on the tyre mean?<\/span><\/h1>\n

For example: 195\/65 R15 91T XL<\/p>\n

    \n
  • 195 – Tyre width in millimetres.<\/li>\n
  • 65 – Tyre height or profile expressed as a percentage of the tyre width. In this example, it is 65% of the tyre width, or 195 mm x 65% = 127 mm. <\/li>\n
  • R – Indicates a radial tyre.<\/li>\n
  • 15 – Rim diameter in inches.<\/li>\n
  • 91 – Load index, i.e. the maximum permissible load per tyre. In this example, 91 = 615 kg load per tyre. <\/li>\n
  • T – Speed index. The maximum permitted speed with these T tyres is 190 km\/h. <\/li>\n
  • XL – Reinforced tyre (XL class). Tyres for passenger cars designed for higher loads and pressures than standard tyres. <\/li>\n
  • If the profile of the tyre is 80, it may be left blank. So, for example, 155\/80R13 = 155 R13. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
